Beachfront Self-Catering Accommodation
Near Bay of Islands and Whangaroa Harbour
Located near beautiful Whangaroa Harbour in Northland, New Zealand, this stylish retreat is set on a dramatic rock face overlooking it's own private beach surrounded by 85 acres of regenerative native bush, giant Pohutukawa trees, waterfall and gardens.
Facing nor-east (maximum sun in the Southern Hemisphere), the Butterfly Bay Homestead showcases the many faces of the Pacific Ocean and the many moods of one of Northlands most beautiful secluded sand beaches.
The combination of shelter from almost all winds, the warmth, solitude and almost total absence of man, has created one of the largest butterfly sanctuaries in Australasia.
About the Holiday House
The three level house is light and bright with contemporary decor and original art works. Native timbers are used throughout and the extensive decks wrap around the house, showcasing the superb views. The extensive video, C.D., reading and games selection ensure that the whole family is catered for. Whether fishing, swimming, playing in the surf, or just lazing on the beach with a good book....relaxation really is only a whim away.
Butterfly Bay is the perfect base for exploring the wonders of beautiful Northland. There are many excursions that can be arranged, from salt water fly fishing for Kahawai, Trevally and Kingfish (all renowned light tackle game fish), Big Game and line fishing charters, coastal kayaking, Scuba Diving, to less watery pursuits such as Golf, Horse Treks or gorgeous nature walks.
